Backyard Bone's album Leather and Steel is a solid effort that showcases the band's ability to blend hard rock and blues. The album opens with the driving "Bad Moon Rising," which sets the tone for the rest of the record. Lead vocalist Jack Hammer's gritty vocals are a highlight throughout, particularly on tracks like "Dirty Love" and "Hellfire Blues."

The band's musicianship is also impressive, with guitarist Rusty Blade delivering blistering solos on tracks like "Rattlesnake Shake" and "Born To Rock." The rhythm section of bassist Slam Dunk and drummer Crash Bang keep the energy high and the groove tight throughout the album.
