Review by Omar Saady

Velvet Waters by Megatrons is an album that showcases the band's versatility and creativity. The album consists of 12 tracks that blend different genres such as rock, blues, and funk. The band's sound is characterized by catchy guitar riffs, groovy bass lines, and powerful vocals.

The opening track, "Velvet Waters," sets the tone for the album with its bluesy guitar intro and soulful vocals. The second track, "Funkadelic," is a funky tune that will get listeners grooving. The album also includes slower, more introspective tracks like "Lost in Time" and "Lonely Nights."

One of the standout tracks on the album is "Electric Love," which features a catchy guitar riff and a memorable chorus. The band's musicianship is also highlighted on tracks like "Jungle Boogie" and "Big City Blues," which showcase their ability to create complex arrangements.

I thought I would never find or hear this song again. Thank You ,On behave of my father William Plunkett the writer of "Merry Piper he would have agree with you totally, he was way ahead of his time with his style of music. I do have the sheet music to some of his music. He wrote so much, music was his life and knowing that people are still enjoying it now is wonderful. I.m still trying to get a copy of the 45 to pass down and I'm still doing research on some other songs. Thanks You Have Made My Day

Many, many thanks, irh19660, for posting "The Merry Piper" and "Velvet Waters" by the Megatrons. You brought back a lot of great memories. The sound on both songs is so clear and sharp. You've done a really great job--and a fine service for all of the fans of the Megatrons.

The Acousticons must have been the hippie version transforming into VW Campervans & woodie station wagons. I have this record as well and spin it in lounge sets from time to time, beautiful melody.

I remember it well. The most relaxing song I'd ever heard. And with all the stress I was under at home and at school, it really helped. I must have been 13 also.

there was a period of time maybe 1959-64 when instrumentals were very popular.....
Haven't heard this song since it first came out.....(in 1959?)...when I was 13! I'm 74 now. But I remember it perfectly...just like it was yesterday!

You're quite right. Of course, for those of us around in 1959, without occult powers, there was no discerning it as "New Age". But, I do recall thinking, that it was quite unique, and I wondered how they had created it.
Now that I'm wiser, I realize that a new approach has always been the essence of artistry.

First heard this one in my 13th year...me and my Mom loved it. A magical sound for a magical time.

When I first heard this at age 12 c. June 1959 the instant imagery that it brought forth was of some slow excursion train going round a tranquil Alpine lake.

Australian Dorothy Dodd wrote the lyrics to this tune.
Tony Worsely and the Blue Jays at the end of a recording session recorded their version of Velvet Waters and to their surprise it went into the Top 5 nationally in 1965.

A beautiful, simple, piece of music. I still have the 45 rpm record of this that I bought June 26, 1959 but, interestingly, the label says: Audicon, not Acousticon like the one above.  I graduated from high school just 2 weeks before this purchase.
