About Nina Gordon

Born November 14, 1967. Is an American rock singer. Co-founder of the band Veruca Salt, Nina pioneered and revived Bangles inspired pop-rock for the mid-90's grunge generation. She quickly became known for her instantly infectious power-pop hooks and melodies, writing Veruca Salt's biggest hits, Seether and Volcano Girls. Since leaving Veruca Salt in 1998, she has released the successful solo album Tonight And The Rest of My Life, wrote songs for Fefe Dobson and Courtney Jaye, and released her second solo album, Bleeding Heart Graffiti.

going thru my list of fave albums and this popped up - for those who wished Veruca Salt had better CDs.... here you go - the Allmusic review keeps referring to Aimee Mann but this is better written - if you had to compare I would pick Sheryl Crow for the rock ballads and general girlishness like Veruca Salt's "Benjamin" the following songs - Fade to Black - Got Me Down - Hold On To Me - 2003 - End of The World - Title Track... and the very poetic Horses In The City portray Nina as a girl you admire and love to listen to - so there's 7 of the 13 songs and Nina shines like the sun ! - the rest are pre and post teen "in your face" lyrics with very appropriate arrangements - imagine youngish girls that are very precocious, daring and rockin' a "sugar buzz" and the Veruca Salt vibe is back - excellent rock attitude and instrumentation plus clarity throughout as you would expect from producer Bob Rock - leave this on repeat and you do start to skip a few tracks but you will be amazed at how long you leave it in the CD player... and how many nights this will go through your head... in many ways a Best Of... CD... a career in one album - that is def a compliment and NOT a complaint... again Sheryl Crow is a far more prolific songwriter... but fewer gems per album
