Review by Bryan Daly

Always Now by Section 25 is a post-punk album that showcases the band's unique sound and style. Released in 1981, the album features a blend of electronic and guitar-driven tracks that create a captivating and immersive listening experience.

The opening track, "Friendly Fires," sets the tone for the album with its driving beat and catchy synth lines. The band's use of electronic instrumentation is particularly impressive on tracks like "C.P." and "Hit." The latter features a pulsing bassline and atmospheric synths that create a sense of tension and urgency.

The album also features more guitar-driven tracks like "Dirty Disco" and "Melt Close." These songs showcase the band's ability to create a sense of energy and excitement through their use of distorted guitars and driving rhythms.

About Section 25

Section 25 were formed in Blackpool, Lancashire in April 1978 by brothers Lawrence and Vincent Cassidy, taking their name from a provision of the Mental Health Act which allowed for compulsory detention. The group joined Factory Records and were produced by Martin Hannett and later Bernard Sumner. Unlike the majority of their obvious peers the group survived beyond 1982, and in 1984 not only scored an international dance hit (Looking From a Hilltop) but also synthesized acid house before it was a recognised style. The original group split in 1985. The Cassidy brothers revived the band in 2006, although Larry Cassidy died in 2010. His daughter Bethany then fronted the group for several years before joining Sea Fever. The band is now a duo of Vin Cassidy and Stephen Stringer.
