Review by Laksita Utama Suhud

Walk Away Renée is a classic album by Southside Johnny & The Jukes, released in 1980. The album is a masterpiece of blue-eyed soul, featuring some of the most talented musicians of the time. The album is a mix of original songs and covers, all of which are performed with great passion and energy.

The standout track on the album is the title track, "Walk Away Renée." The song is a cover of a hit by The Left Banke, and Southside Johnny & The Jukes bring their own unique style to it. The song is a beautiful ballad, with Johnny's soulful vocals and the band's lush instrumentation creating a haunting and emotional atmosphere.

Other highlights on the album include "This Time It's For Real," a classic soul number with a catchy chorus and some great horn arrangements. "I Don't Want to Go Home" is another standout track, with its upbeat tempo and infectious groove.

The album as a whole is a testament to the talent of Southside Johnny & The Jukes. Their ability to combine different genres of music, from soul to rock to blues, is unparalleled. The musicianship on the album is top-notch, with each member of the band contributing their own unique style and sound.

What a band, what a song, what a combination. Loved them since 1976, and I'm not going to stop now.

The Definitive Version.
I saw Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes at Newcastle City Hall in the 1970's, a red hot band.

I’m 72, I’ve seen most of the Greats. Both Fillmores, Woodstock, Central Park, the Pavillion, Jazz Workshop etc. Very few come close to this guy and this band. Got to see him twice this year.

I'll necrobump this thread from 10 years ago. Saw him play this 2 days ago in Huntington NY. Amazing. What does he say about his keyboard player in the intro? "he couldn't be mean if he was ...." ?

Can someone tell me who pianist is. With Art Garfunkel haircut as is great. One of the greatest bands. How greatness escaped them is a mystery.
I hear a bit of Levi Stubbs in Johnny's voice and Levi had one of the best voices in modern music history. Great performance.
